Vegetation Management (Tree Trimming)

Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative Inc. manages a brush and tree-trimming program in order to maintain safe, reliable power within its service territory.

During the months of June, July, August and September, crews have commenced and will continue working in the communities of Chimayo, Santa Cruz, McCurdy road to Cuarteles, Medanales area, Santa Clara area, and in Jemez Springs from Battleship Rock to the Fish Hatchery.

You will know our crews (including contract crews) are in your area if you see our trucks with the Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative logo and our crews wearing identifiable co-op clothing.

As part of our preventive maintenance program, tree trimming crews continually monitor the status of the right-of-way easements to make sure that trees and shrubbery are free from power lines. Crews also log and schedule tree trimming dates to respond to calls from the membership in an effective and efficient manner. We also ask that you report any unsafe situations or branches growing into or rubbing against power lines. Remember, never attempt to cut the trees yourself. It could lead to severe injury.
