Welcome to JMEC

Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative (JMEC) was founded in 1947. The co-op began as a small hydropower generating station in Jemez Springs serving three families. Today, JMEC is the largest electric co-op in the state serving consumers in the five counties of Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, San Juan, McKinley and Sandoval.

Announcement: Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative, Inc. has a vacancy in District 4 Ward B due to the recent passing of Mr. David R. Salazar on December 17,2019.

Interested Parties in the District 4 Ward B (must live within the Ward B district) where the Vacancy exists, must have been a member of the Coop for a period of at least one year, please see the qualifications per the Bylaws:

SECTION 3. Qualifications. Any person shall be eligible to become and remain a trustee and/or voting delegate of the Cooperative, who: (a) Is 21 years of age or over and a citizen of the United States of America. (b) Is a member of the Cooperative and is and remain a bona fide resident of the district he would represent. (c) Is not in any way financially interested in a competing enterprise or a business selling electric energy or major supplies to the Cooperative. (d) Has been legally elected at a district meeting called for the purpose or at a meeting of the voting delegates. (e) Has been a member of the Cooperative for one year or longer. Upon establishment of the fact that a trustee is holding office in violation of any of the foregoing provisions, the board of trustees shall remove such trustee from office. Nothing contained in this section shall affect in any manner whatsoever the validity of any action taken at any meeting of the board of trustees.
